F A Q

Does MythicProxy have commands or permissions?

No. You set it up in two config files, one on the proxy and one on each backend, see Config Files.

Which versions do I need?

See Requirements.

Do I need MythicMobs Premium?

Yes, on every backend, see Requirements. If a backend runs without it, see MythicMobs Premium Not Detected.

Can a variable belong to a MythicRPG character?

Yes, with MythicRPG Premium on the backend, through the profile and targetprofile scopes. See MythicRPG Profile Variables.

Do I need Redis or a database server?

No. The proxy saves the data in a SQLite file by default. You need MySQL only to run more than one proxy, see Storage.

Do I need Velocity modern forwarding?

No, but it saves a step: MythicProxy then uses the forwarding secret. Without it, set the same secret on the proxy and on every backend, see Secret.

Does it work behind NAT or in Docker?

Yes. You usually need to set advertise on the proxy and server-name on each backend, see How Backends Find the Proxy and Server Names.

Is the connection between the servers encrypted?

No. Make sure only your own servers can reach the hub port, see Connections and Security.

Why did the first player to join after installing not fire any trigger?

The new backend learned the proxy's address from that player's connection, so it was not connected yet when the join happened. See Missed Events for how to avoid it.

Why does the ~onNetworkJoin skill on my mob never run?

~onNetworkJoin fires on the joining player, never on mobs. See Mob Triggers and Player Triggers for where to put it instead.

Does ~onNetworkSignal:NAME only fire for that signal?

No. MythicMobs ignores the text after the colon for this trigger, so it fires for every signal. See onNetworkSignal for how to react to one signal.

Which variable types can I store?

Not every MythicMobs variable type works across the network. See Variable Types for the ones that do.

Why does <global.var.NAME> not show my network variable?

Network variables are separate from MythicMobs variables and have their own placeholders, such as <global.netvar.NAME>. See Network Variable Placeholders.

How large can a value be?

See Limits.

Why do my server clocks matter?

When two servers change the same variable, the change with the newer timestamp wins, and each server stamps its changes with its own clock. See Conflicts and Clocks.

What happens when the proxy restarts or goes down?

Your servers keep running on their own copies and reconnect by themselves, but some messages from that time are lost. See When a Proxy Is Down.

Can I run more than one proxy?

Yes, with one shared MySQL database and a different proxy-id on each proxy. See Multiple Proxies.
